Located in the heart of the Indian Ocean, the Reunion Island
is a French overseas département with 2 512 Km² that makes up,
with Mauritius and Rodrigues Island, the ancient Mascarene. Its
geographical and cultural closeness with the other players in
the area plays an unquestionable part with institutions as the
COI (Commission de l'Océan Indien (Indian Ocean Commission)),
IOR (Indian Ocean Rim) and the SADC (Southern African Development
Community).
Its implantation in the Indian Ocean gives it the ultra-peripheral
region status of Europe. The Island belongs to the France / South
Africa free-exchange zone and access to a market of more than
380 million European consumers.
It is in this context that the first companies of the Group were
set up in 1967, before becoming SDV International Logistics in
1993. Initially located in the Port activity zone, SDV International
Logistics then moved into a new building with 4 650 m² at La Possession
in March 2000.
