A hunky-dory
job for a chikungunya operation
Since a couple of months, the Reunion Island has been fighting
a local plague, funnily called the “Chikungunya”.
This epidemic disease, like malaria, is caused by mosquito stings.
It is thus some kind of an emergency operation that Soretrans
did for their client.
There are many technical and legal constraints for the import
of insect repellent. But under the circumstances, our team was
strongly motivated and rushed the operations of reception, customs,
and delivery of tens of thousands of plug-in mosquito repellents
in less than a whole day.
The delivery of the mosquito kits to “La Mutualité
de la Réunion”, a mutual benefit association in Saint
Denis was done by REUNITRANS. The kits were then distributed to
the population. As a whole, over 7 tons and 55m3 insect repellent
to fight this dreadful disease.
We were warmly thanked by our client for this operation / gesture
of sympathy, which was relayed in the local newspaper on March
7.
